O Ínicio/The Begining

Um sonho. Um projecto. Uma realidade.

A 12 de Janeiro de 2010 o mundo parou. Um sismo de magnitude 7.0 com consequências catastróficas devastou o Haiti. Milhões de pessoas foram afectadas, milhares morreram, o país ficou praticamente destruído. A ajuda humanitária revelou-se essencial. Fundos, expedições de resgate, equipas médicas e engenheiros representam apenas uma gota num oceano de auxílio internacional. E agora? O que fazer após a tragédia?

Mesmo depois de todo o planeta se ter unido para ajudar as vítimas do sismo, o Haiti está, hoje, arruinado. Toda a ajuda é bem-vinda e a boa vontade necessária. Assim, com este propósito, foi no norte deste país, à beira-mar plantado, que surgiu o sonho. Quando questionada sobre um projecto a elaborar, no âmbito da disciplina de Área de Projecto, a nossa turma não vacilou quando decidiu ser parte activa desta causa. É por isso que aqui estamos: para divulgar a nossa campanha de solidariedade e, ao mesmo tempo, recolher sugestões e opiniões tendo em vista o sucesso do nosso trabalho, a passagem de utopia a realidade.

Escolas Unidas pelo Haiti (E.U. pelo Haiti) é, então, um projecto de ajuda humanitária que consiste na união de escolas de todo o país para que, no dia 16 de Abril de 2010, os estudantes portugueses possam sair à rua e angariar fundos para alimentação, reconstrução, medicação, entre outro tipo de apoios às vítimas do sismo.

Nesse dia, à mesma hora, em vários cantos do país e devidamente identificados, milhares de alunos poderão participar nesta causa. Mais informações e actualizações serão divulgadas neste blog. Em colaboração com a AMI (Assistência Médica Internacional) esperamos que este projecto atinja dimensões incalculáveis. Contamos convosco!

A dream. A project. A reality.

On the 12th January 2010, the world stopped. A magnitude 7.0 earthquake with catastrophic consequences devastated Haiti. Millions of people have been affected, thousands of them have died - the country has been practically destroyed. Humanitarian help has revealed itself essential. Funds, rescue exepeditions, medical teams and engineers are only a drop in an ocean of international help. And now? What to do after the tragedy?

Even after the gathering of the whole world to help the earthquake's victims, Haiti is, today, still in ruins. Help is always welcome and good will is always needed. Therefore, with that idea in mind, it was in the North of the country, sitting by the seacoast, that the dream emerged. When chosing a project to develop for the subject "Project Area", our class didn't hesitate to decide to be an active part of this cause. That's why we're here: to spread our solidarity campaign and, at the same time, gather suggestions and opinions, looking after the success of our project - for the utopy to become reality.

United Schools for Haiti (U.S. for Haiti) is, thus, a project of humanitarian help which consists in the union of schools from all over the country so that, on the 16th April 2010, Portuguese students can go out to the streets and raise funds for food, reconstruction, medication, among other kind of supports to the earthquake's victims.

In that day, at the same time, in various places of the country, and properly identified, thousands of students will be able to be a part of this cause. More information and updates will be broadcasted in this blog. In collaboration with AMI (International Medical Assistence), we hope that this project will reach inestimable sizes. We count on you!
